Back to the books, baby.

Trust – Hernan Diaz
Our soThis October book club pick is Trust by Hernan Diaz.  This brilliant, puzzling novel is at its core about the gravitational pull of money.  NPR called it “an ingeniously constructed historical novel with a postmodern point.” It’s unpredictable and layered and OMG, I can’t wait to chat with Hernan Diaz. I  have sooo many questions.  Read along and join us!

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow – Gabrielle Zevin
Do NOT be like me and let the fact that this gorgeous book seems to be about video games hold you up from reading it.  It’s really about a group of 3 beautifully imperfect friends and how their relationships develop over almost 20 years.  It has been compared to John Irving’s The World According to Garp, as both books are about creative people struggling with all kinds of baggage.  For all of you literary nerds, there are also some super fun bookish references, starting, of course, with the title.

The Marriage Portrait – Maggie O’Farrell
I am currently racing to finish this new novel from Maggie O’Farrell.  But, I also don’t want it to end.  You get me, right?  The book takes place in Renaissance Italy, and I’m obsessed with the sassy, passionate and resilient teenage narrator Lucrezia de Medici.  It’s a different vibe from her last book Hamnet, but I’m digging it all the same.
